Located about 40 kilometers east to the
Angkor complex, Beng Mealea is a temple for Hinduism. Beng Mealea literally
means “Lotus Pond”. It was built by the Suryavarman II who also built the
Angkor Wat. Beng Mealea was similar to the Angkor Wat in overall arrangement,
but in less scale. But today Beng Mealea leaves just ruins, so it is hard to
imagine that it has similarities with the famous Angkor Wat. Although it is
deserted, you can still get the unique atmosphere, which makes you think that
about its glorious past.
You need to pay US$5 for visiting Beng
Mealea, transport fees not included.
