Can you feel somebody’s watching you? -
there are 216 huge faces of the Phra Phroms (buddhas) overlooking you. It was
built in 1200 AD right in the center of the Angkor. Some historians think that
the the face with cold and mysterious smile is the king itself - you can’t find
a better way to look at your people. The 1200-meter-long bas-relief is another
special sculpture you need to see. There are over 11 000 persons sculptured
there. The exquisite sculptures on the wall of first step show the living
scenes of Cambodia in 12th century, including cock-fighting and
martial arts.
The best time to visit the Bayon Temple is
during the time of sunrise or sunset, which makes the temple more beautiful and
mysterious in the fantastic lights and shadows. Looked in distance, the Bayon
Temple appears like a bunch of rocks, but it will surprise you with the most
beautiful scenes when you get close.
