Banteay Srei

Located 32 kilometers north to the Siem Reap, Banteay Srei is considered as the sparkling pearl of the crown of Angkor art. Many tourists may be disappointed in its scale at their first sight of Banteay Srei, but they are soon surprised by the exquisite sculptures on the gate and wall when they get close.

Banteay Srei is one of the most unique and beautiful architecture group in Angkor complex. It is famous for bright colors and exquisite relief. Banteay Srei literally means “the castle of lady”. The sculptures are so exquisite and elegant that people think they are created by females. It is not in large scale, but with a moat same to other large scale architecture. The main buildings consist of three central pagodas and a large library.

The best time for photographing is 9:00-10:00 in the morning and 16:00-17:00 before sunset, because the sunshine at that time make the pink sands look perfectly beautiful.
