Angkor Thom was built by the greatest king
of Cambodia Jayavarman VII (1181 - 1219 AD). The entrance of the Angkor Thom
consists of five monument alike gates - East Gate, South Gate, West Gate, North
Gate and the Victory Gate, every gate of which consecrates an Avalokiteshvara
(Phra Phrom, the Buddha of mercy). The wall has a length over 12 kilometers, a
hight of six meters, and a width of eight meters.
Behind the Angkor Thom lie some very
important relics, including the Bayon Temple, Baphuon Temple, Terrace of
Elephants, and the Terrace of the Leper King.
