Wat Suan Dok is a famous Buddhism temple located on the road leading to Doi Suthep Mountain. It was built in 1373 in the beautiful garden of ancient Lanna Thai Kingdom. Wat Suan Dok enshrines the largest bronze Buddha statue in Thailand, and its main hall is covered by a three-storey roof. Behind the hall are numerous stupas enshrine kings’ bones. There is a huge bell-shaped stupa which was built in honor of a famous monk Phra SUmana Thera who once lived here.
Tips:
1. Wat Suan Dok has a very photographic attribute especially at dusk with a collection of white stupas in the foreground and the Doi Suthep Mountain in the background.
2. In the middle of April each year, the temple holds a series of grand religious activities.
