Elephant is of consequence in Thailand history and culture, the white elephant is even the symbol of the king. Thai people show a lot respect to this smart animal and treat them as close friends. They even set up an Elephant Festival on March 13th since 1998. On that day, grand ceremony will be held.
There are many elephant camps in Thailand and Mae Sa Elephant Camp is the largest in Chiang Mai which raise over 100 elephants. The elephant is a big eater and can digest 90 kg food and 80 liters water each day. Elephant training starts from their infancy. With professional training, the elephants here can perform acrobatics, music, football, and so on. After enjoy their cute performances, tourists can also ride an elephant to wander in the valley accompanying by an elephant trainer.
