Inya Lake is the largest lake in Yangon located in the north of the city. The scenic lake is vast with luxuriant tropical plants all round.
A man-made lake built in 1882 by English colonist for water supply in Yangon, Inya Lake now is a good place for recreation. It has Yangon University build in its southwest and a beautiful Inya Lake Park by the side. Facing the Shwedagon Pagoda, there is a huge repetition of the bird-shaped imperial pleasure-boat; in the north of the lake is the mausoleum of Aung San, the leader of Myanmar Independence, while in the south are the zoo and National History Museum.
Besides, tourists can do some water sports in Inya Lake, like swimming, boating or sailing.
