Travel Guide

Da Nang is a major port city in middle of central Vietnam, on the coast of the South China Sea and at the mouth of the Han River. It lies on the north-south traffic axis of land route, rail, sea and air routes. Several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Hue Imperial City, Hoi An Ancient Town and the My Son Sanctuary are located within 100km of it.

Before 1997, Da Nang was part of Quang Nam-Da Nang Province, except it was ever separated and renamed as Tourance to be a concession during French conquest. In January 1997,Da Nang was separated again from Quang Nam Province to become one of five independent municipalities in Vietnam. Now Da Nang is the commercial and educational center of central Vietnam, listed as a first class city, it has a higher urbanization ratio than any ofVietnam’s other provinces or centrally governed cities.

Thanks to its special terrain with sea, mountains, midland areas, plains and urban streets, Da Nang has a numerous unforgettable beautiful scenes, such as Han River, Hai Van Pass, Son Tra Peninsula, Ba Na Mountain, Marble Mountains, etc. Due to it is an ancient land, closely related with the Sa Huynh cultural traditions, there are also many imposing palaces, towers, temples, citadels and ramparts.

Da Nang is located in the zone of typical tropical monsoon, temperate and equable climate. The weather in the city bears the combination of the north and the south climate characters with the inclination to the former. There are two seasons: the wet from August to December and the dry season from January to July. The highest temperature in June, July and August is 28-30, while the lowest in December, January, and February is 18-23. Cold waves are occasional but they are of average and short lasting.
