Regarded as the most ancient temple in Luang Prabang, Wat Wisunalat was built in 1513. But in 1887, a group of irregular bandits named Black Flag Haw burned the temple down. 1898, they started to reconstruct it, so the main buildings of the temple were built after 1896. It has a main hall with grand ceiling, and many wooden Buddha statues (used to pray for rain), as well as many precept platforms of 15th and 16th centuries. Because of the Indian and Khmer factors added in, this temple looks quite different with the temples in traditional Laos style. There is also the 34-meter-high That Pathum built in 151 which is very grand and impressive inside the temple.
