Just next to Hat Karon, 17 kilometers from Phuket Town, Hat Kata is quite smaller than Hat Patong and Hat Karon. It has two beautiful bays constituting a W shape, named Kata Yai (larger Kata) and Ao Kata Noi (lesser Kata) by locals. Hat Kata is a good place for leisure and diving attracting those who prefer a serene surrounding as it is far more tranquil and cleaner. In the north of the beach is a small coral reef. On the main stem of the beach, tourists even can enjoy the elegant scenery of Chalong Bay in the south.

In the south end of Hat Kata is a bar street, in which you can find the famous Ska Bar and The After Beach Bar. Compared with other boisterous bar streets in other beaches, the bars here are also quieter with light drinks and light music.
